1For the music director. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David, 2when the people of Ziph came and said to Saul, "David is hiding among us, is he not?" 3God, save me by Your name; by Your strength take up my cause. 4God, listen to my prayer; pay attention to what I am saying. 5For outsiders have risen up against me, and violent people are hunting for my life; they give God no thought. Selah 6But see, God comes to my aid; the Lord is the one who holds my life up. 7He will turn back the harm on my enemies; because You are faithful, wipe them out. 8I will offer You a sacrifice of my own free will; LORD, I will thank You and honor Your name, for it is good. 9For He has pulled me out of every trouble, and my eyes have seen my enemies defeated.
