1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, and believe in Me as well. 2There are many dwelling places in My Father's house. Otherwise I would have told you, for I am going to prepare a place for you. 3And when I have gone and prepared a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me, so that you also may be where I am. 4And you know the way that leads to where I am going." 5Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going. Then how are we to know the way?" 6Jesus answered him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. Only through Me does anyone come to the Father. 7Had you known Me, you would have known My Father too. And from now on you know Him; you have seen Him." 8Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father; we will need nothing more." 9Jesus said to him, "I have been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know Me?To have seen Me is to have seen the Father. So how is it that you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me?The words I say to you are not spoken on My own authority. Rather, the Father who remains in Me is doing His works. 11Believe Me: I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me. If not, then believe because of the works themselves. 12Truly, truly, I tell you, anyone who believes in Me will also do the works I am doing, and will do greater works than these, since I am going to the Father. 13And whatever you ask in My name, I will do it, so that in the Son the Father may be glorified. 14If you ask Me anything in My name, I Myself will do it. 15If you love Me, you will keep the commandments I have given you. 16I will ask the Father, and in answer He will give you another Advocate, who will be with you forever. 17This is the Spirit of truth. The world is not able to receive Him, since it does not see Him and does not know Him. But you know Him, for He remains with you, and He will be in you. 18I will not leave you like orphans with no father; I am coming to you. 19In a short time the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me. Because I live, you too will live. 20On that day you will come to know that I am in My Father, and that you are in Me and I am in you. 21Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, that person is the one who loves Me. Whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father; I in turn will love them and show Myself to them." 22Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will show Yourself to us, but not to the world?" 23Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves Me will keep My word. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our dwelling place with them. 24Anyone who does not love Me does not keep My words. And the word you are hearing is not Mine; it belongs to the Father who sent Me. 25I have told you these things while I am still with you. 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father is going to send in My name, is the one who will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; it is My own peace that I give you. I do not give the way the world gives.Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them give way to fear. 28You heard Me tell you, 'I am leaving, and I am coming back to you.'If you loved Me, you would be glad I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I am. 29I have told you now, before it takes place, so that when it does take place you will believe. 30I will not say much more to you, for the ruler of the world is coming. He has no hold on Me. 31But so that the world will know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father has commanded Me.Get up; let us go from here.
